Get Clear with Laser Eye Consultations

Laser eye surgery can be a great solution for many to correct refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. During this procedure, a laser is used to make permanent changes to the shape of the cornea to correct these vision errors,

Before you can start the laser eye surgery process, a consultation is necessary so that we can go over the process and make sure it is the right solution for you. Visit us today for a laser eye surgery consultation today to discuss your options.

Am I a Candidate for Laser Eye Surgery?

We won’t know if you are a candidate for surgery until we provide an examination. Generally, you may be a candidate for laser eye surgery if you are a healthy adult with stable vision who needs minor vision errors corrected.

Some diseases or conditions, such as glaucoma, diabetes, or dry eye disease, could make laser eye surgery difficult and increase the risks of complications.

Types of Laser Eye Surgeries We Consult On

Although there are many laser eye procedures to choose from, we provide consultations on some of the most common surgeries: LASIK and PRK. While they are similar, there are some key differences between the two procedures.

To find out more about each procedure, book a consultation today.

Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is a laser eye surgical procedure where a surgeon first cuts a flap in the cornea and lifts this up with the laser. After this, the laser is used to take a set amount of tissue out of the cornea to correct the refractive errors.

The LASIK healing process takes about 2–3 months to fully heal, but you’ll be able to get back to your routine within 2–3 days.

In the Photo-refractive keratectomy (PRK) surgical procedure, the surgeon removes the outer layer of the cornea with a surgical tool. After this, a laser is used to remove small bits of tissue under the surface of the cornea to reshape it.

Healing for PRK is typically a bit longer than LASIK and takes about a week.

What to Expect During Your Consultation

During a laser eye surgery consultation, we will first start with an eye exam to check the health of your eyes and the condition of your vision. This will determine what type of refractive error you need to correct and if you are a candidate for the procedure.

The consultation also includes an overview of each procedure and the risks associated with each. After this, you will have time to discuss any questions and move on to booking the procedure.
